The house rules of the shadow workshop. Last updated 4 October 2026.
Andrhacula is the trade name of a private person, not a company, living at Kamplaan 26, Groningen, the Netherlands. You can reach the workshop at andrhacula@gmail.com.
Every creature is an original. No moulds, no second castings. What you see is the only one.
Creatures are sold under the Dutch kleineondernemersregeling (KOR), article 25 of the Wet op de omzetbelasting 1968. No VAT is charged, and none will be added at the door. The price on the creature’s page is the full price of the piece.
Shipping is shown before you pay. It is not hidden in the coffin lining.
An order is an offer to buy that particular creature. The contract is made when Andrhacula confirms it, usually by confirming that payment has arrived. If two people fall for the same creature, the first confirmed order wins. The other person gets their money back and the workshop’s sympathy.
Payment is due as stated at checkout. A creature is not reserved by staring at it.
Ready-made creatures leave the workshop within a few days of confirmation. Inside the EU they usually arrive in 3–5 days. Further afield, allow 7–14 days. Each one travels in a coffin-shaped box with padding, and the parcel is insured.
Custom commissions start at €220 and take longer, because the creature still has to be sculpted, baked, painted, and given a poem. You will be told the likely timing before you agree.
Risk passes to you when the carrier hands the parcel over. Until then, the creature is still the workshop’s problem.
If you are a consumer, you may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving the creature. You do not need a reason, though a dramatic one is always appreciated. Tell the workshop within those 14 days, by email is easiest. You then have another 14 days to send the creature back.
The piece must come back in the state it left: looked at, admired, not bathed, not repainted, not left alone with a cat. You may examine it the way you would in a shop. If it comes back worse for the visit, the refund can be reduced by the loss in value.
Return postage is yours to pay, unless the creature arrived damaged or was not the one you ordered. Andrhacula refunds the price of the creature and the standard outbound shipping within 14 days of hearing from you, and may wait until the creature is back or you have shown it is on its way.
This cooling-off right does not apply to a commission made to your own description. Once you have agreed to a made-to-order creature and the sculpting has started, it cannot be un-summoned. Andrhacula will say so plainly before you confirm a commission.
You can copy this note:
To Andrhacula, Kamplaan 26, Groningen, andrhacula@gmail.com I withdraw from the contract for the following creature: Ordered on / received on: My name: My address: Date:
A creature should arrive whole, and should match the one you ordered. If it is broken, incomplete, or not as described, write to the workshop with a photograph. Andrhacula will repair, replace, or refund, including reasonable return shipping. Dutch law gives you this protection on top of the 14 days above. It does not expire because a poem was funny.
Creatures are fragile art, not toys. They contain small parts and wire. Keep them out of the reach of small children, and out of direct sunlight if you want the paint to stay put. Dust with a soft brush. Do not submerge them. Water is how you lose a friend.
The sculptures, photographs, and poems stay the work of Andrhacula. Buying a creature means you own that physical object. It does not include the right to reproduce it, mould it, or print the poem on a tea towel.
If the workshop owes you something, the amount is limited to what you paid for the creature and its shipping. This limit does not apply where Dutch law forbids it: injury, death, intent, or gross carelessness.
Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the mandatory protections of your own country. Disputes can be taken to the competent Dutch court. You may also use the European online dispute platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Andrhacula is not obliged to take part, and would rather just fix the creature.
